About me

I was raised in a small communities in North Western B.C. My connection to community, land, seasons and cycles of life has always been a part of my reality. My love of life and deep curiosity lead me towards many different paths before I came to birth work, but my interest has always been in health.  I worked as a Home Support Worker and Resident Care attendant for ten years while completing my undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care. During this time I was exposed to key issues faced my people with disabilities, and this stimulated my passion for social justice work. While I was at home with my two babies I completed a Masters in Disability Management, which I did part-time, online while I taught yoga and established our new home and garden. During this time I did the DONA birth doula training in 2013, and was certified in 2015. In 2016 I became trained through Douglas College and am now a breastfeeding educator. I have attended more than 400 births in Victoria and it has been the biggest honour of my life.

I have been teaching all kinds of yoga classes over the past fifteen  years and am not embarking on the next chapter of my career as I blend my diverse background in human support work, somatics and embodiment with psychotherapy. I am starting my clinical counselling practice and in sessions with me you will be heard, respected and challenged to see yourself and your situation from different perspectives.  As a qualifying fellow I am offering reduced costs sessions where I integrate modalities and am informed by somatic experiencing, IFS-informed parts work, CBT, narrative therapy as well as others and work collaboratively with you to find solutions, connections and to better understand yourself.  If we work together I will support and guide you, but you will take the credit and responsibility for your own growth and healing. I work with adults of all ages, and couples and I am most passionate about messiness of life transitions and the nuances of identity, ambivalence, grief and existential angst.  I offer pregnancy options counselling (non-directive counselling to support decision making) at low cost for all in need. I look forward to meeting you!

I look froward to hearing from you, please don’t hesitate to send me an email, ask a question or to set up a free meet and greet if you are curious about my services.  You can also contact me or book with me through The McGee Therapy Clinic.
